First National Postdoctoral Appreciation Day

UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, will host a symposium in conjunction with the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA).

September 24, 2009 from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm

The statewide event is free and open to all postdoctoral scholars, scientists and recruiters working in
industry or education. The day includes a keynote seminar by Robert Tillman, PhD, director of the Science
Alliance for Students and Postdocs at The New York Academy of Sciences, as well as a career development
panel session.

This is the first National Postdoctoral Appreciation Day honoring individuals who continue in their field of study
after the completion of a doctoral degree (PhD). The NPA hopes to recognize the significant contribution that postdoctoral scholars make to the U.S. scientific research enterprise and, at the same time, to increase
awareness of this contribution.

If you would like to present your research:

If you are a Postdoctoral Appointee in New Jersey, and would like to participate in the presentations,
please send an email to the postdoctoral association with the Title of your presentation, the name of
your Mentor, as well as a short one-paragraph Abstract.  Also indicate in your email if you would like to be considered for an oral or poster presentation. For oral presenters, we request that your mentor introduce you before your presentation.  This is a NJ-wide event, and postdocs from all disciplines are invited to present their work.

Abstract Deadline is September 10, 2009.

The program will feature a Keynote Speaker, as well as oral presentations by Postdoctoral Appointees
from varied institutes in New Jersey during the morning session, followed by poster presentations in the
afternoon session.  Lunch will be provided.
