Clinical Care Services

The Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition Division has physicians that fully evaluate and treat pediatric patients with intestinal, hapatobiliary, and nutrition-related disorders. The pediatricians are sensitive to the needs of the infant, child, and adolescent with GI disorders. Procedusres are performed only on carefully selected patients.

Diseases such as malabsorption, chronic diarrhea, failure to thrive, abdominal pain, peptic disease, constipation, encopresis, inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal hemoorrhage, hepatitis, portal hypertension, parasitic infestation, and hyperlipidemia are evaluated.

Procedures available include:

  • Esophagogastrodude-noscopy
  • Colonoscopy
  • Sigmoidoscopy
  • Endoscopic biopsy
  • Removal of foreign body and polypectomy
  • Rectal, enteral, and liver biopsy
  • 24-hour esophageal pH probe
  • Esophageal manometry
  • Hydrogen breath testing
  • Total parenteral nutrition
  • Enteral tube feeding and percutaneous endoscopic gastronomy(PEG) placement
