October 26, 2012 - Duration 2.75hrs

Erin Riehle, RN, MSN
Senior Director
Disability Services and Project SEARCH
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center
Cincinnati, OH

People with developmental disabilities face chronically high levels of unemployment. Successful transition from high school to adult life is critical to improving employment outcomes. This presentation will share an internationally recognized and replicated high school transition program, Project SEARCH, an innovative, business-led, school-to-work program that takes place entirely at the workplace. The one year program features total workplace immersion, which facilitates a seamless combination of classroom instruction, career exploration, and hands-on, worksite-based training and support. Competitive employment is the goal for each student.
