Message from the Chief Residents

We would like to extend a warm welcome to those interested in the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. At our program, you will find an excellent balance between the academic and practical aspects of radiology. Daily educational conferences, some of which are multidisciplinary, provide us with a firm academic foundation. In addition, our attending radiologists are dedicated to teaching and to our success. As the vast majority of them are subspecialized, we receive an excellent and comprehensive educational experience encompassing the different branches of radiology. Working primarily at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, a level one trauma center and one of the largest teaching hospitals in New Jersey, we are exposed to a very large volume of diverse pathology. Furthermore, we rotate through the University Radiology Group affiliated outpatient imaging centers, which rounds off our clinical experience and gives us a taste of the private sector of radiology.

Our residents are one of our strongest assets. We are a diverse group who believe in camaraderie, teamwork, and providing academic and social support, be it on call or during rotations. We enjoy frequently showing each other interesting cases, with senior residents taking an active role in teaching both junior residents and medical students who rotate through our department. In addition to our already provided access to StatDX and RadPrimer, we readily share additional information and academic resources with one another. There is a Resident Library where many of us donate used/extra useful books.

The residents are, not surprisingly, friends outside of work. Even after 5pm, we frequently socialize and catch up with one another, with some even stopping by from outpatient facilities to do so! Events are typically organized by voluntarily designated Social Chairs. From the local streets of New Brunswick to those of New York City a train ride away, the residents enjoy hanging out together.

Overall, our excellent academics, collaborative environment, and strong camaraderie provide for a rich residency experience. We hope to have you join us!
