United Health Foundation/National Medical Fellowships - Diverse Medical Scholars Program

Description: The United Health Foundation and National Medical Fellowships, Inc. are pleased to announce a new service-learning opportunity - the United Health Foundation/National Medical Fellowships Diverse Medical Scholars Program - for outstanding US underrepresented minority medical students to engage in community service, develop critical skills, and join an active collegial network. This program will award 22 qualified underrepresented minority medical students who demonstrate leadership at an early stage of their careers and a commitment to serving medically underserved communities.

The United Health Foundation/National Medical Fellowships Diverse Medical Scholars will receive a scholarship to conduct a self-directed community health project of 200 hours at a community site in a medically underserved community.
Eligible candidates must be enrolled in an accredited medical school in:
• New York (specifically greater metropolitan New York City area - NY, CT, PA, NJ)
• Florida (Greater Miami area)
• Louisiana (New Orleans/Baton Rouge/Shreveport)
• Georgia (Atlanta)
