The New York Academy of Medicine - Glorney-Raisbeck Student Fellowship in Cardiovascular Research

Description: The Glorney-Raisbeck Medical Student Grants in Cardiovascular Research fund up to four grants per year, consisting of a student stipend plus support of the laboratory or department in which the student will work. Competition is open to M.D. candidates attending medical schools in the New York metropolitan area in any year of their education. M.D./Ph.D. students are not eligible. The term of the research project is not specified, but the grants typically support research projects initiated during the summer between the first and second years of medical school. Students are encouraged to pursue clinical or basic research projects that extend beyond this startup period.

Applicants must provide a written description of the research project, as well as a letter of support from the faculty member supervising the research. This letter should outline a significant and meaningful role for the student participating in the research project. Grant recipients will be required to submit a written report when the research has been completed. The Glorney-Raisbeck Grants will be paid directly to the sponsoring medical school for distribution to the student and to the participating laboratory or department. Indirect costs may not be applied to these grants.
