Computer-Based Assessment for Sampling Personal Characteristics (CASPer) Test

What You Will Need

In order to take CASPer, you will need to secure access to a computer with audio capabilities, a webcam, and a reliable internet connection on your selected test date. You will also need a government-issued photo ID. CASPer can be taken practically anywhere that you can satisfy these requirements. Please review the technical requirements listed here: https://takecasper.com/aboutcasper/#technicalrequirements.

Costs

The cost to take the CASPer test is $10.00. If you choose to have your test scores sent to other medical schools, the charge is $10.00 additional for each medical school you designate. Further information can be found at www.takeCASPer.com.

How to Start

Go to www.takeCASPer.com to sign up and reserve a test using your AMCAS id. You will be provided a number of testing dates and times which correspond to the application cycles and deadlines for Rutgers – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Please note that there are limited testing dates available and there will not be additional tests scheduled. Use an email address that you check regularly; there may be updates to the test schedule.

Test Specifics

The CASPer test is comprised of 12 sections of video and written scenarios. Following each scenario, you will be required to answer a set of probing questions under a time contract. Each response is graded by a different rater, giving a very robust and reliable view of personal and professional characteristics important to the program. No studying is required for CASPer, although you may want to familiarize yourself with the test structure at www.takeCASPer.com. A sample test is available to help you prepare of the actual test and to check computer system requirements. We encourage a quiet environment to take the test.

Results

We will receive results roughly three weeks after each test date. Applicants will not be provided with feedback or scores. CASPer test results are valid for one admissions cycle. Applicants who have already taken the test in previous year will be expected to re-take it.
