Research Interest:
Research of our lab focuses on the timed posttranscriptional events controlling development of normal and lesioned neural stem cells and projection neurons of the cerebral cortex. In particular, our focus is on revealing the role of temporally defined posttranscriptional processing events in the developmental cellular processes that are regulated by neocortical RNA binding proteins under the guidance of timed morphogen and/or trophic signals from distant structures, such as thalamus. Finally, we are revealing how these intricate processes are disrupted after the transient intrauterine ischemia, which often leads into a spectrum of postnatal child and life-long disorders, including mental retardation and cerebral palsy.
