COVID-19 Update Tuesday, March 10

Letter from Interim Dean Robert L. Johnson, MD, FAAP

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:

By now you have received the message from President Robert Barchi and you are aware that Governor Phil Murphy has declared a State of Emergency and Public Health Emergency in New Jersey

Due to an abundance of caution, the medical school has determined that any meeting or event through the end of April that involves more than 15 people will be held by telephone, WebEx, or cancelled outright, effective immediately. The following events at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School are cancelled:

  • Career Night
  • TJC Prep Rally
  • Match Day Ceremony
  • Stahl Lecture
  • Take Your Child to Work Day
  • Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society event
  • Gold Humanism Honor Society event
  • Anatomy Memorial
  • Distinction Symposium
  • Reception for Accepted Applicants

No Grand Rounds will be held during this time.

In addition, the 10thannual Scholarship Gala, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 4, has been postponed until the Fall.

We encourage you to take meetings by phone or WebEx, rather than in person, while we continue to evaluate any additional changes to our operations. Plans continue to be made to address online or other learning options in the event distance learning activities are needed for courses.

As the situation continues to develop, we will keep you informed of any additional changes. The health and safety of our community and the community at large is of utmost concern.

Sincerely,
