Pediatric Health Outreach Project Clinic: Healthcare for the Uninsured
CAMDEN, NJ - Third-year medical student, Abha Gupta has written an insightful and educational article on providing healthcare to uninsured children in Camden, N.J. Published in the April 2009 edition of the American Academy of Pediatrics Medical Student Newsletter, Ms. Gupta reports on the experiences of medical students who run the clinic, as well as the educational value of providing a medical home for children. In the article, she emphasizes the need for providing continuity of care and, working with partners such as the pediatric emergency department at Cooper University Hospital, reaching out to new patients in an effort to promote regular well visits and preventative health strategies.
