Free Conference on Epilepsy and Seizure Disorders to be Held for Families December 5 in New Brunswick

Ep360

New Brunswick, NJ – Families are welcome to attend a free conference about epilepsy in children on Wednesday, December 5, hosted by the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The conference, Epilepsy 360, is for families who have children from ages one month through adolescence who have experienced seizures or who have been diagnosed with epilepsy. It will be held in the Conference Center, room 1302, at the Clinical Academic Building, 125 Paterson Street, New Brunswick. Doors open at 4 pm; the conference will begin at 5 pm.

“Epilepsy is a chronic disorder that can occur in children of any age,” said Abdolreza Esfahanizadeh, MD, an instructor of pediatrics and child neurologist at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. “However, with proper knowledge and understanding, as well as therapeutic interventions, it can be well managed.”

During the event, parents will learn about seizure types, diagnostic tools used to evaluate seizures, available treatments, and how a child can manage and live with seizures. Expert physicians from the medical school will present the latest information on seizure classification, medication and surgical options, and seizure safety when driving or traveling.  Two question-and-answer sessions will be held during the event for attendees.

The Epilepsy 360 Conference is free; however registration is required. Please visit: rwjms.umdnj.edu/2012Epilepsy360 for a detailed agenda, contact information and a registration form.  Registration may also be completed by sending an e-mail to: epilepsy360@yahoo.com.
