Medical Student Sona Jasani Earns Innovation Award

Sona Jasani, a fourth-year medical student at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS), earned the Innovation in Clinical Medical Student Education Award at the 2012 Annual Retreat of the Northeast Group on Education Affairs (NEGEA). She presented an abstract titled “Utilizing Visual Art to Enhance the Clinical Observation Skills of Medical Students” along with Norma Saks, EdD, assistant dean for educational programs at RWJMS.
Saks, who began her term as chair of NEGEA at the retreat, also presented an abstract with fourth-year student Katie Schultes, in addition to two workshops on educational techniques and career building. Both students will be granted diplomas with Distinction in Medical Education designations upon graduation in May.
Carol Terregino, MD, interim senior associate dean for education and Kerry O’Rourke, campus library director, also gave presentations at the retreat.
