Dean's Research and Mentoring Awards Recognize Outstanding Scientific Work at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School
The RWJMS Dean's Research and Faculty Mentoring Symposium, held on September 10, recognized the top research publications of 2011 as well as excellent research mentorship. The best publications of 2011 in various categories were selected by the RWJMS Research Committee from a pool of nominations submitted by the faculty, and award recipients gave short presentations of their winning work.
This year's top mentors, chosen by junior faculty, were: M. Maral Mouradian, MD, William Dow Lovett Professor of Neurology, received the Norman H. Edelman, MD, Clinical Science Mentoring Award, and Cheryl Dreyfus, PhD, professor and chair, Department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology, received the R. Walter Schlesinger, MD, Basic Science Mentoring Award.
A scientific poster session highlighted the work not only of award recipients, but also of researchers throughout RWJMS, including summer student scholars.

Best Publication by a Medical Student: Nilay Sehthi, MD/PhD candidate
Best Publication by Faculty: Clinical Sciences: Janice M. Mehnert, MD '01, Assistant Professor of Medicine
Best Publication by a Graduate Student: Anand Ramanathan, Department of Biochemistry
Best Publication by a Resident: Nadine Housri, MD, Department of Radiation Oncology
