Patient Care

As one of the nation’s leading comprehensive medical schools, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in health care delivery. It is grounded in a commitment to an exceptional, patient-centered continuum of care and collaboration with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital—the medical school’s principal affiliate—to comprise New Jersey’s premier academic medical center.

Our comprehensive clinical care is provided through Rutgers Health. With more than 500 physicians representing over 200 specialty and subspecialty programs, Rutgers Health is among the largest multispecialty physician practices in the state. It offers a full range of primary care services to patients through family medicine, general internal medicine, and pediatrics, and 14 clinical departments that provide a broad spectrum of advanced specialty care.

For our patients, our ties to academic medicine mean access to some of the brightest minds in medicine, thought leaders, and health care innovators—clinicians who are constantly updating their own education and skill levels. Rutgers Health physicians are known for creating new therapies and developing landmark treatments that shape the future of medicine, including pioneering breakthrough methods to target cancer.

Robert Wood Johnson Medical School physicians also provide care at the Eric B. Chandler Health Center, which plays a key role in meeting the health care needs of the greater New Brunswick, N.J., community by offering medical services to all who are in need, regardless of a person’s or family’s ability to pay. A federally qualified community health center, Chandler is operated jointly by Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the Eric B. Chandler Community Advisory Board, Inc. Its goal is to eliminate barriers to obtaining quality, family-oriented primary and dental health care for its diverse, multicultural population by providing comprehensive acute and chronic care to patients of all ages. A broad spectrum of social services also is available, as well as community-based health and wellness programs.

In addition, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School faculty physicians provide clinical care at numerous hospitals and ambulatory care sites throughout the state.
