DDLS Spring 2019Preparing Individuals on the Autism Spectrum for a Life After School
Cathy Pratt, PhD, BCBA
Director
Indiana Resource Center for Autism
Indiana University
Bloomington, IN
Despite our best efforts, many on the autism spectrum remain unemployed orunderemployed. As individuals enter the adult world, it is important that those who support them understand the complexity of ASD, have the skills to design accommodations, and understand how and when to use evidence-based practices. This presentation will help practitioners understand the shifting reality of individuals across the spectrum and list strategies for achieving improved outcomes in the areas of social, behavior, communication, personal management, work skills, and postsecondary programming.
