DDLS Fall 2015
Meaningful Work: Improving Employment Outcomes for Youth and Young Adults with IDD October 2, 2015 - Duration 2.75 hrs Erik Carter, PhD
This presentation will focus on what we know works best for equipping young people with IDD with the skills, supports, opportunities, and relationships that enable them to flourish in early adulthood. Dr. Carter will present research-based and emerging strategies for preparing young people and their families for the world of work; forging creative partnerships beyond (and within) the service system to help young people find good jobs that capitalize on their strengths; and facilitating “community conversation” events to engage entire communities in expanding local employment opportunities and supports. Practical and adaptable approaches that can make a real difference in the lives of young people with IDD will be shared.
