PCAST - Person-Centered Approaches in Schools and Transition There are two virtual training options available for all PCAST workshops. Each option will require the same amount of time to complete as the other. Please select the one option that will best meet your needs as a virtual learner:

PCAST: Utilizing Person-Centered Approaches to Improve IEP Meetings
This workshop will teach person-centered thinking skills and introduce tools designed to improve the quality of collaborative meetings, especially IEP meetings. Participants will leave with practical strategies and tools related to pre-meeting preparation, effective communication, management of difficult conversations and situations, approaches to address sensitive topics, New Jersey Administrative Code requirements, and post-meeting implementation. Previous completion of “An Introduction to Person-Centered Planning and Implementation for Families and Professionals” is highly recommended but not required.
OPTION 1: Interactive Instructor-Led Live Remote Delivery
This two-day workshop includes four 2-hour live modules and a one-hour assignment between the two training days. A total of 9 hours of PD are provided. Completion of day one is required to attend day two. This workshop is offered twice a year (Section 1 and 2).

PCAST: Developing Group Person-Centered Planning with Students in Classroom Settings
Participants will learn how to unbundle the skills and tools used in formal facilitated person-centered planning events for use with groups of students in both virtual and physical classrooms, while strengthening their person-centered planning skills. Each participant will draft a group instruction implementation plan with associated outcomes and actions that are designed to meet the needs of the students they will be supporting. Example implementation frameworks will be used to assist participants in customizing their individualized strategies. Previous completion of “An Introduction to Person-Centered Planning and Implementation for Families and Professionals” is highly recommended but not required.

- Registration:
Register using the links provided under each course option. The registration deadline for each course is two weeks prior to the course start date. - Canvas Account:
Each registrant will be provided with a Rutgers Canvas account to access their workshop(s). When a user is added to a course, they receive an email from Rutgers University Canvas <notifications@instructure.com> - No matter how early you register for a workshop, you will not receive a Course Invitation from Rutgers University Canvas <notifications@instructure.com> until 3-10 days prior to the workshop start date.
- First time Canvas users will need to reset their passwords. Navigate on your browser to https://rutgers.instructure.com/login/canvas and click Forgot Password?. YOU MUST RESET YOUR PASSWORD AND LOGIN PRIOR TO THE COURSE START DATE.
- Next, enter the email address you registered with for the Login ID. A secure email will be sent to you with a link to establish your new password.
- Once you have logged in, you will be brought to your dashboard. The dashboard will display information about your current courses, announcements, and a global activity stream that shows recent activity in all your current courses.
- If you do not see your course in the dashboard or under the courses tab, then it may not be available to access yet. Please contact your instructor for further guidance with questions related to the course.
