Letter from the RUP-IMSD Program Directors
Dear Prospective Graduate Student:
Rutgers has breadth and depth in many areas, including: neuroscience, structural biology, genetics, basic molecular biology, biomedical and chemical engineering, nutritional science, cancer biology, among others. The Rutgers biological/biomedical science community offers many exciting opportunities for your PhD, and we value and foster a diverse community of scientists and scholars.
The Rutgers University Pipeline (RUP)-IMSD program is one element of Rutgers’ commitment to increase opportunities and the success of PhD students from groups historically under-represented in the biological/biomedical sciences.
Applicants to the participating graduate programs listed below can be nominated for an RUP-IMSD Fellowship by their individual programs. A RUP-IMSD Admission Committee will review the applications and select students for RUP-IMSD funding. (Note that a RUP-IMSD Fellowship is only one of many funding mechanisms available to our PhD students).
RUP-IMSD Trainees, are provided with up to18 months of support (fellowship, tuition, and benefits). In addition, the RUP-IMSD program provides close mentoring and professional opportunities – continuing through the entire graduate school experience - that complement the activities available through the individual labs, graduate programs and the graduate schools.
