Children First: Pediatric Mini-Medical School at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School
Community members are invited to attend a series of interactive seminars to discuss the latest advances in child health with pediatric specialists. Hosted by the Department of Pediatrics at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, the goal of the Pediatric Mini-Medical School is to improve the community’s understanding of medicine and science and to promote engageddiscussions between pediatricians and attendees.

The sessions are geared toward adults who care for children including parents, grandparents, child care providers, educators and other healthcare professionals. High school and college-age students who are interested in careers in medicine or child-focused professions are also welcome to attend.
The four sessions in the series are:
- Tuesday, April 13, 2010: Aches and Pains: When to Worry About Bone/Joint Aches, Headache and
Stomach Pain, featuring expert rheumatologists, gastroenterologists and neurologists.
- Wednesday, April 21, 2010: Wheezes and Sneezes: Allergy, Asthma, and Infectious Diseases,
featuring pediatric specialists in pulmonology, allergy, immunology and infectious disease.
- Tuesday, April 27, 2010: Why All the Fuss About Fat? Featuring adolescent medicine,
cardiology, endocrinology, nephrology and hypertension pediatric specialists.
- Wednesday, May 5, 2010: Looking at Child Development from Typical to Atypical:
Milestones, Autism and Sleep Issues featuring pediatricians specialized in general and
neurological development, and pulmonology.
Registration for each session is required, as space is limited.
There is a fee of $10 per session or $25 to attend the complete series.

Conference Center, room 1302 at the
Clinical Academic Building

New Brunswick, NJ.Registration begins at 6:30 p.m.; sessions begin promptly at 7 p.m. and will be about two hours long.

The pediatric specialists leading each session are all physicians of The Robert Wood Johnson Medical Group, the school’s multi-disciplinary faculty practice with approximately 500 physicians encompassing more than 200 sub-specialties who have privileges at the Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where kids are our only specialty.
