Remote Access Guide

The RWJMS Office of Information Technology would like to remind students, faculty and staff of the following tips in the event that remote acess to systems and data is required.  

For All:

  • Emails, calendars, files and software are acessable from a university or personal device anywhere with an internet connection. Access your Emails, Office 365 Apps and OneDrive:

  • Antivirus Software:  For Personal Devices Immunet (for Windows) and Avira (for Macintosh) are available for use on personal equipment not owned by Rutgers  Download Antivirus 

    Rutgers provides Cisco Advanced Malware Protection for use on university-owned devices. School issued devices already have this installed.

Most Educational Systems are web based and can be accessed using any modern web browser:

Faculty & Staff:

  • Lecture Recordings: Faculty can remotely record new lectures using the Media Site desktop recorder and publish it to the course or post last year’s lecture if available.

  • Online Meetings via WebEx: Meet virtually with video, voice, and chat meetings.

  • DUO: Two-factor authentication helps protect your account by adding an extra layer of security beyond your password. With two-step login, you will need to provide additional confirmation of your identity to gain access to many online resources at the university. Setting up two-factor authentication takes about five minutes, and it will significantly improve the security of your NetID. Enrolling for Duo Authentication is the required prior to requesting a NEW VPN account. Setup DUO
  • Connect to the RBHS Network: Certain applications and data access such as shared drives, will require the Rutgers Remote Access Virtual Private Network (VPN) through Cisco AnyConnect. VPN provides remote connectivity which mirrors direct access to the campus network.   • Clinical Applications: All clinical applications are loaded on the Virtual Desktop and can be accessed remotely using your VDI software. If you need assistance with VDI, please contact  RWJCLINHELP@RWJMS.RUTGERS.EDU
