The Dean's Research and Faculty Mentoring Symposium, held on November 11, recognized the top research papers published by faculty, post-doctoral students and residents at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 2012, and honored two faculty members for excellence in mentoring. The best publications of 2012 were selected by the school's Research Committee from a pool of nominations submitted by the faculty, and award recipients gave short presentations of their winning work.

This year's top mentors, chosen by junior faculty, were: Jeffrey P. Levine, MD, MPH, professor of Family Medicine and Community Health, who received the Norman H. Edelman, MD, Clinical Science Mentoring Award, and Michael Lewis, PhD, University Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry, who received the R. Walter Schlesinger, MD, Basic Science Mentoring Award.

A scientific poster session highlighted the work not only of award recipients, but also of researchers throughout the medical school, including summer student scholars.
