Yong Kang is an assistant professor at the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. He completed his undergraduate education at Shanghai Medical University in Shanghai, China, where he also received his MD. He received his PhD from SUNY-Upstate Medical University. He completed fellowships at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, and Saint Barnabas Medical Center/Monmouth Medical Center, Department of Pathology.

His areas of interest include rapid molecular identification of pathogenic microorganisms, growth and differential factors, and bone morphogenetic proteins and gene regulations.
