Department of Neurological Surgery
Our mission is to provide outstanding and compassionate neurosurgical care through education, excellence, and groundbreaking research.
Enhancing Synergies Between Surgeons and Scientists
The Department of Neurological Surgery offers an outstanding education in neurosurgery for our medical students, an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited categorical Neurosurgical Residency Training Program, and a two-year Committee on Advanced Sub-specialty Training (CAST) certified Endovascular Neuroradiology Fellowship Program taught by faculty from both the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School based in New Brunswick, New Jersey and the New Jersey Medical School based in Newark, New Jersey.
The alignment of the academic mission at Rutgers with the clinical mission of RWJBarnabas Health results in a strong academic health system that allows for enhancing the synergies between surgeon scientists and scientists in a lab to guide and direct the research. A public research university like Rutgers offers unlimited potential at bringing together teams of clinicians who understand the barriers in solving medical treatment dilemmas with engineers who can find solutions to generate medical advancements.
