Application Process

Thank you for your interest in the Anesthesiology Residency Program at Rutgers – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Beginning September 2023, we will be accepting applications through ERAS for 12 PGY-1 positions beginning July 2024. We will not have any positions available outside of the match.

Please submit the following documents electronically via ERAS:

A completed ERAS application
Dean's letter
Medical school transcript
United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE) Board scores or COMLEX Scores
Three letters of reference
Personal statement
A curriculum vitae

Selection Process

The Resident/Applicant Selection Committee will review all completed applications and will select applicants for interviews. Resident applicants are chosen based on academic performance in medical school, letters of recommendation, and USMLE and/or COMLEX results.

Interviews

Our interview season begins in October and runs through January. Interview dates TBA. Per our Graduate Medical Education office our interviews will remain virtual until further notice. The interview day consists of two sessions, a morning and an afternoon session. The morning session begins with a presentation about the program, followed by interviews with current faculty and residents. The afternoon session will begin with a brief presentation about the program, followed by interviews with current faculty and residents. Confirmations are sent 1 week before the interview date. Schedules and agendas are sent via email 2 days prior to the interview.

International Graduates

If you are an international medical school graduate and wish to apply, please contact the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) to submit your ERAS application. You must be ECFMG-certified to apply to our program.
