How to Apply

Educational Requirements

• In order to be admitted to NPM graduate medical education program, a candidate must have satisfied the educational requirements for registration as a resident in the State of New Jersey under the regulations promulgated by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners. Every medical school attended must be accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education or the American Osteopathic Association or recognized and listed in the World Health Organization Directory of Medical Schools.
• For admission to the first year of training, the applicant must qualify for licensure with the Board of Medical Examiners as defined in Board of Medical Examiners Regulation.
• For admission to any postgraduate year after the applicant has used up his or her five years of eligibility for registration/permit in the State of New Jersey, the applicant must have a New Jersey license.
• International Medical Graduates must be U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents or holders of J-1 Exchange Visitor visas issued by the Educational Commission on Foreign Medical Graduates in order to be eligible for admission. An eligible IMG must hold a currently valid ECFMG certificate.

Electronic Applications

All applications will be processed through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Visit the ERAS website for information on how to apply.

Required Documents via ERAS

• ERAS application (CAF)
• Four letters of recommendation (LoRs)
  • Must include:
    1. one letter from your residency program director
    2. one letter from a neonatology faculty member
• Personal statement including a description of special interests and career goals
• Medical school transcript
• Medical student performance evaluation/Dean's letter
• Wallet-size color photograph
• USMLE transcripts or COMLEX transcripts
• ECFMG status report (only for International Medical Graduates)

Matching Program

Applicants must register with the National Residency Matching Program on the NRMP web site.

After applications are thoroughly reviewed, qualified candidates will be contacted for a personal interview.
