3rd Amyloidosis Symposium: “New Discoveries & Evolving Approaches”
Course Overview
This symposium aims to increase awareness of amyloidosis as well as focus on its cardiac and neuropathic manifestations. Experts will lead discussions on both non-invasive and invasive diagnostic techniques for cardiac amyloidosis, highlight key challenges and pitfalls regarding false readings and discuss how to improve diagnostic accuracy. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the complexities of amyloid cardiomyopathy and amyloid polyneuropathy, gain insights in how they are presented clinically and how they impact patient care. Exploring current emerging treatment strategies and empowering clinicians to develop evidence-based individualized treatment plans will also be discussed.
Learning Objectives
1. Describe the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and diagnostic approach to amyloidosis, with a focus on amyloid cardiomyopathy and amyloid polyneuropathy.
2. Discuss non-invasive and invasive methods for diagnosing cardiac amyloidosis
3. Identify pitfalls of nuclear imaging tests to help reduce false readings
4. Discuss and analyze emerging amyloidosis treatments
5. Evaluate new diagnostic tools and their potential to improve early detection of the disease/subtypes
6. Discuss common challenges in diagnosis, treatment and long-term management of amyloidosis
