Biography

Dr. Cohen is a clinician-educator in the Division of Endocrinology and Department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine.  A graduate of the University of North Carolina graduate at Chapel Hill (go Tar Heels!), he earned his medical degree at The Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. He then completed his residency in Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at The Mount Sinai Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at The Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California and a Rabkin Fellowship in Medical Education at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. 

Research/Clinical Interests

In addition to working as an inpatient Hospitalist at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Dr. Cohen is a general endocrinologist. His clinical interests include thyroid disease (hypo- and hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancer) and gonadal disease, including transgender medicine and male hypogonadism. He possesses an Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound and is the Director of the Thyroid Nodule and BiopsyClinic. 

Academically, Dr. Cohen is the Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine for Education, the Course Director for the Internal Medicine Sub-Internship, the Chair of the Underrepresented Minorities in Medicine Task Force, the Chair of the Volunteer Appointments and Promotions Committee, and the Grand Rounds Coordinator for the Department of Medicine. He recently completed the Academic Leadership Program at Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences and holds numerous clinical and educational leadership roles in the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), The Endocrine Society, and Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine.
