Bio
Irina Mindlis, Ph.D., M.P.H. is an Instructor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health of Rutgers University’s Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, within the Parker Health Group Division of Geriatrics. As a clinical health psychologist, her work centers on developing scalable interventions to improve mental health outcomes for older adults in complex real-world settings, including primary care, palliative care, and community settings.
Dr. Mindlis’ research program has focused on improving psychosocial outcomes in older adults with multimorbidity and serious illness through mechanistic and intervention research. She is especially interested in improving mental health outcomes in older adults with multimorbidity, as well as in the development of digital health interventions to improve measurement-based care in primary care and palliative settings. Her work has been funded by the Weill Cornell Medicine Clinical and Translational Science Center, the COMMUNITY Center (Improve Chronic disease Outcomes through Multi-level and Multi-generational approaches Unifying Novel Interventions and Training for healthY experiences) and the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Mindlis serves as incoming chair for the Society for Behavioral Medicine’s Aging Special Interest Group, and as editorial board member for Annals of Behavioral Medicine. She is a Butler-Wiliams Scholar (National Institute on Aging) and a Multiple Chronic Conditions Scholar (Older Americans Independence Centers AGING Initiative). She completed her PhD in Psychology at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York, and her Master of Public Health in Epidemiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She completed her clinical internship (residency) at Mount Sinai Services/Elmhurst Hospital, and her postdoctoral fellowship in the T32 training program in Behavioral Geriatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine.
