Bio

Jeffrey Levine is a professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health and the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS). He also serves as the Director of Women’s Health Programs and Assistant Director of the RWJMS Family Medicine Residency Program at RWJUH.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University in 1983. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1990. In 1997, Dr. Levine completed a Master of Public Health at UMDNJ-School of Public Health. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Overlook Hospital from 1990 to 1993, where he served as Chief Resident from 1992 to 1993. Dr. Levine further specialized in Women’s Health with a fellowship at UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School from 1994 to 1996, and he participated in the Grant Generating Project at the University of Missouri from 2000 to 2001.

Dr. Levine has been actively involved in women's health research and education, participating in over forty clinical trials as both a principal and co-investigator. He has given hundreds of presentations on women's health issues to medical professionals and the lay community both regionally and nationally.

He is the Chair of the North American Committee on Continuing Medical Education Women’s Health Forum, providing the latest evidence-based clinical information on women’s health issues to primary care providers via live interactive venues throughout the country. He has co-authored numerous articles, monographs, and book chapters related to women's health and dedicates much of his time to teaching students, residents, and fellows.

Dr. Levine has dedicated his professional career to improving access and delivery of high-quality women's health care to the underserved, and he has achieved national expertise in contraceptive research, cervical cancer prevention, menopausal symptom management, and osteoporosis diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Levine has participated in multiple women's health clinical trials, published related scholarly articles, and given numerous CME presentations at national meetings.  He has received several honors recognizing teaching excellence, mentorship, advocacy, and compassionate patient care.

In recognition of his contributions to medical education, Dr. Levine was selected as a UMDNJ Master Educator in 2005. He was inducted into the Arnold P. Gold Foundation’s Gold Humanism Honor Society in 2007 and received The Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award the same year. In 2012, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for his lifelong dedication to scholarship, leadership, professionalism, and the art of healing. Dr. Levine received the Norman H. Edelman Clinical Science Mentoring Award in 2013, nominated by his junior faculty, fellows, and peers for his outstanding advising and support.

Dr. Levine was the first appointed Chair of the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services’ Interagency Council on Osteoporosis. He serves as an appointed Faculty Board Member of the RWJMS Appointment & Promotions Committee, RWJMS Executive Committee, RWJMS Curriculum Committee, and RWJMG Finance Committee. Dr. Levine resides in Hillsborough, New Jersey, with his wife, four daughters, and a menagerie of adopted animals.
