Bio

Joyce Afran is an Assistant Professor at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where her primary focus, in addition to patient care, is medical student education. She is responsible for multiple medical student courses and experiences at Rutgers RWJMS, with a particular emphasis on communications and clinical skills, interprofessional education, and patient-centered practice.

Dr. Afran completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, in 1983. She then pursued her Doctor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, graduating in 1987. Subsequently, she completed her Family Practice Residency at Somerset Family Practice Residency in Somerville, NJ, from 1987 to 1990.
