Meet Dr. Dulnuan
Dr. Kenneth Dulnuan is dedicated physician with 12 years of experience in cardiology, including 7 years as an advanced heart failure, left ventricular assist device (LVAD), and transplant cardiologist. Currently serving as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) and practicing at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH), Dr. Dulnuan specializes in managing complex heart failure cases, mechanical circulatory support, and heart transplantation. His clinical interests include hypertrophic/infiltrative cardiomyopathies, pulmonary hypertension, and heart failure devices such as Barostim and CardioMEMS.
He completed his medical degree from the University of Philippines, College of Medicine. Later, he completed fellowships in cardiovascular diseases and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at Geisinger Medical Center, PA and University of Kentucky, KY, respectively. He is board certified in multiple cardiology sub-specialties, including advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation, cardiovascular computed tomography, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and hypertension.
Dr. Dulnuan has made significant contributions to clinical research by participating in pivotal trials on heart failure, ventricular assist devices, and emerging technologies. His most recent research activities include being the institution’s principal investigator for Phase IV, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Randomized-Withdrawal Trial Evaluating Sodium Zirconium Cyclosilicate (SZC) for the Management of Hyperkalaemia in Patients with Symptomatic Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction and Receiving Spironolactone (REALIZE-K) study. He is one of the authors of the recently published Management of Iron Deficiency in Heart Failure: Practical Considerations and Implementation of Evidence-Based Iron Supplementation (J Am Coll Cardiol HF. 2024 Dec, 12 (12) 1961–1978).
An active member of esteemed organizations such as the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA), and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT), Dr. Dulnuan has contributed to the field of cardiology as by educating and guiding fellows, residents and medical students, and was recognized as the 2023 Educator of the Year by the Division of Cardiovascular Disease, RWJMS. He is also a topnotcher of the Philippine Physician’s Licensure Examination.
Fluent in English and Filipino, Dr. Dulnuan combines clinical excellence with academic rigor, research acumen, and a commitment to advancing patient care in heart failure and transplant cardiology.
