Bio

Dr. Saro-Nunez completed her internal medicine training at Rutgers University. A few years after completing her training in Nephrology at Weill Cornell Medical College, she returned to Rutgers as a faculty member. She serves as the clinic liaison for the Division of Nephrology. She actively participates in the recruitment of internal medicine residents and Nephrology fellows every year and the URIM (underrepresented in medicine) task force. She has served as a faculty mentor in the HEAL (Hypertension Education and Lifestyle Modification) program and is involved in community outreach for blood pressure screening. She greatly enjoys teaching and is fluent in English and Spanish.

Research & Clinical Interests

In clinic, Dr Saro-Nunez enjoys treating patients with a variety of kidney diseases as well as educating them in lifestyle changes to prevent progression of kidney disease.  

Dr. Saro-Nunez is mainly a clinical physician, but she recently participated as a sub-I in the TIGRIS trial at RWJUH, a multicenter randomized trial studying use of PMX cartridge in endotoxic septic shock.  

Active Research & Clinical Projects

Unmask masked hypertension in patients with CKD”. A project in which several members of the Nephrology division participate, with the objective of diagnosing hypertension in patients with chronic kidney disease by obtaining ambulatory blood pressure measurements.
