Biography

Dr. Rashika Bansal is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Nutrition at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She obtained her medical degree from B.J. Medical College in Pune, India, and completed her Internal Medicine residency at New York Medical College, St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson, NJ. She then pursued a prestigious three-year Clinical and Research Fellowship in Endocrinology at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where she served as an Associate Investigator, focusing on studies related to the physical and behavioral characteristics of overweight and obese patients. Prior to her current role, she served as an Endocrinologist and Clinical Assistant Professor at the Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University’s Lerner College of Medicine where she gained extensive experience in treating complex metabolic conditions. Dr. Bansal is also board certified in Obesity Medicine and is actively involved in professional societies such as the Endocrine Society, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) and The Obesity Society (TOS). Her clinical interests focus on weight management, diabetes, immunotherapy-induced endocrinopathies, and general endocrinology.

Clinical Interests and Description

Dr. Bansal’s research interests are in studying metabolic disorders such as diabetes and obesity. Dr Bansal has been an associate investigator for a clinical study on physical and behavioral traits of overweight and obese adults. She has also been an associate investigator for a long-standing natural history protocol for hyperparathyroidism patients including patients with MEN1 syndrome. She also published research on the clinical effects of SGLT2 inhibitors in patients with Partial Lipodystrophy.

Research Interests and Description

She is currently interested in studying the effects of GLP-1/GIP agonists in patients with extreme insulin resistance. She is also interested on leveraging artificial intelligence to innovate healthcare solutions, aiming to enhance patient outcomes through predictive analytics.

Active Research and Clinical Projects

Use of glucagon like peptide/GIP agonist drug Tirzepatide to treat insulin resistance in Congenital generalized Lipodystrophy.
