Bio

Rob Zachow is a U.S. Air Force veteran who earned his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas Medical Center and holds undergraduate degrees in commercial art and biological sciences. He has nearly 20  years of experience in health sciences education and course directorship.

Dr. Zachow is presently a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecule Biology at Rutgers-RWJMS. He is the Course Director for the M1 Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Systems and Renal, Endocrine, and Reproductive Systems courses at RWJMS.  Prior to the merger, he directed the Medical Physiology course and was Co-Course Director for M1 Integrated Cases at UMDNJ-RWJMS, where he also taught various courses within the UMDNJ-Rutgers joint graduate program.

He has held academic appointments as the senior physiologist at the Medical College of Georgia-University of Georgia Medical Partnership, the Program Leader in Physiology at Touro University, and the Course Director for Human Physiology at Southern Illinois University, School of Dental Medicine, where he was awarded the Paul Simon Award for Academic Excellence. Dr. Zachow has a diverse publication record, has been awarded numerous research grants, has served on numerous internal and external committees, and has mentored a number of students.
