Bio

Sheetal Patel’s clinical and academic focus centers on inpatient care, medical student and resident education, mentorship, quality improvement initiatives and smoking cessation. Outside of her clinical and academic duties, she is actively involved in regional and national leadership within internal medicine societies and community health education. She has served as the president of Society of General Internal Medicine for the Mid Atlantic region in 2025. She is currently serving on the National Council for the Society of General Internal Medicine. She is also the current regional president of the Society of Hospital Medicine North Jersey Chapter. She has served on the planning committee for the regional SGIM as the scientific abstracts committee chair since 2018. She has led the hospitalist mentorship discussions during the SGIM regional meetings and served as poster judge for the SGIM national meetings. In October 2025, she was awarded the GIM Mid Atlantic Leader in GIM Award through the Society of General Internal Medicine. She also completed the Medical Leadership Academy Program in 2025-2026 through RWJBH strengthening her ability to effectively lead within healthcare organizations and beyond.
