Bio

Steve Khalil is an Assistant Professor of Nephrology in the Department of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He serves as Medical Director of Dialysis Clinic Inc. in North Brunswick, NJ, is Chair of the New Jersey National Kidney Foundation Medical Advisory Board, and is Chair of the Nutrition Committee at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

Dr. Khalil completed medical school at New York University School of Medicine. He then completed his residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Following this, he pursued a Fellowship in Nephrology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

His clinical interests include delaying the progression of chronic kidney disease and managing hypertension, particularly in medically underserved patients. He is dedicated to educating medical students, residents, and fellows at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School contributing his expertise to the Rutgers Project ECHO series on Diabetes-Related Chronic Kidney Disease, aimed at educating community providers. He enjoys teaching and devotes time to medical education, receiving the Research Mentor of the Year Award in 2022 for his involvement in research.

Dr. Khalil is passionate about improving outcomes for patients with chronic kidney disease and ensuring the highest quality of renal care is available to underserved and disadvantaged populations. He values long-term partnerships with patients and works collaboratively to meet each patient’s unique needs.
