Bio Summary

I am an established investigator in all forms of clinical and translational research. My specific research interests include Epstein-Barr virus infections after transplant, post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorders (PTLDs), BK virus nephropathy (BKVN), translational immune monitoring, and prospective multi-center clinical trials in chronic kidney disease. I have been the PI on a U01 grant from NCI (UNEARTH), an R01 grant (PTLD-MSMS) from NIAID, a P50 grant from NIDDK and R01 grants (CISTEM and CISTEM2) from NIDDK. I was the site PI for the NIDDK-funded CKiD (Chronic Kidney Disease in Children) TAKE-IT and TAKE-IT-TOO studies, and served as the site PI for the NIAID-funded SNS01, CTOT-02 and CTOTC-05 trials. I have led several translational research projects on immune monitoring biomarkers (indoleamine 2,3 dioxygenase [IDO] enzyme, kidney autoantibodies). In these various trials I have enrolled more than 150 subjects. These studies have led to more than 250 published papers. I trained in an immunology lab and have a formal degree in Biostatistics. I served as lead editor on both editions of the only book on the market about PTLD, published by Springer in 2009 and 2021, respectively. I have the expertise in Epstein-Barr virus infections and post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorders, experience and resources to carry out and lead this project.
