Meet Dr. Hamirani
Dr. Yasmin Hamirani is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Director of Structural Imaging at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Formerly, Dr. Hamirani served in directorship roles at the West Virginia University in structural heart imaging, advanced CV imaging fellowship as well as women’s heart program.
In 2002, Dr. Hamirani achieved her medical degree from the Rawalpindi Medical College, Pakistan. She completed her internal medicine residency at Saint Agnes Hospital - a John Hopkins University affiliated hospital- in Baltimore in 2008. This was followed by fellowship training in Cardiovascular Computed Tomography Imaging from UCLA - Harbor Medical Center in 2009, General Cardiology Fellowship Training from University of New Mexico in 2012 and then a T 32 fellowship training in Multimodality Advanced CV imaging at University of Verginia in 2014. A 3-time recipient of the West Virginia University, Heart and Vascular Institute’s Faculty of the Year Award (2023, 2022, 2020), Dr. Hamirani was also the 2014 winner of the American College of Cardiology’s (ACC) Best Fellow In Training (FIT) Poster Abstract and FIT Travel Award.
For over 15 years, Dr. Hamirani has served the medical field, with 10 years dedicated to cardiology. She is proficient in advanced cardiovascular imaging to include cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, echocardiography, cardiovascular computed tomography, cardiac PET and intraprocedural TEE for structural interventions, nuclear imaging techniques and structural heart imaging including adult congenital heart diseases. She is recognized as an educator and researcher who embraces development. She is an excellent team player who is quite amicable with fellow colleagues, collaborative, flexible and passionate about delivering quality patient care.
