Welcome to the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology evaluates and treats adult patients with all common as well as complex gastrointestinal problems and offers a full range of state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

The division consists of full-time gastroenterologists with significant expertise in various GI and liver disorders. Each physician is committed to providing excellent clinical care to our patients.

Areas of Expertise

  • Anemia
  • Biliary disease
  • Celiac disease (gluten-sensitive enteropathy)
  • Cirrhosis
  • Colon cancer prevention
  • Colon polyps
  • Endoscopic Ultrasound for assessment of gallstones, gastrointestinal cancer, and biliary and pancreatic cancers
  • ERCP to evaluate and treat common bile duct stones, bile duct abnormalities, biliary diseases, and pancreatic duct abnormalities and pancreatic disorders
  • Esophageal disease, including motility (swallowing) disorders, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Barrett’s esophagus and esophageal cancer
  • Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD and NASH)
  • Gastritis
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Hepatitis (Hepatitis C; Hepatitis B; and Autoimmune Hepatitis)
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease—Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis
  • Interventional Endoscopy for gallstone removal and treatment of biliary and pancreatic strictures
  • Obesity (endoscopic approaches to treating obesity, i.e., endoscopic bariatric surgery)
  • Pancreatic cancer evaluation
  • Pancreatitis
  • Peptic ulcer disease and helicobacter pylori
  • Pre- and post-liver transplant care

Division research interests are focused on inflammatory bowel diseases, liver disorders, pancreaticobiliary diseases, and interventional endoscopy. This includes clinical trials, cost-effectiveness modeling, the pathogenesis of diseases, and mucosal immunology.
