Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency

Overview of the Program

The residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is designed to provide the resident with a well balanced exposure to the entire field of women's health care. Upon graduation from our program, the resident will have developed the attitudes, skills, and knowledge required to practice general obstetrics and gynecology in a capable and confident manner. In addition, the resident will be exposed to the various sub-specialties of our field in order to kindle an academic interest in fellowship training if desired.

The goals and objectives of our program are further defined within the context of the ACGME's CORE Competencies for Graduate Medical Education which are:

  • Patient care,
  • Medical knowledge,
  • Practice-based learning and improvement,
  • Interpersonal and communication skills,
  • Professionalism, and
  • Systems-based practice.

The ACGME's category of patient care includes Surgical Skills which are considered separately in our program for the sake of clarity.
