Overview - Family Medicine Residency Program

Thank you for your interest in our program! The Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School 's Family Medicine Residency Program at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is New Jersey 's only urban, University hospital-based Family Medicine program.  Our program started in 1980 and we have trained over 200 family medicine doctors who practice in New Jersey and nationwide.

We are located in New Brunswick, NJ, the home of Rutgers University and a vibrant university town.  New Brunswick is nicknamed “the healthcare city” as it is the home to two major hospitals and several internationally known pharmaceutical giants.   Located in central New Jersey with excellent public and personal transportation connectivity, the “Hub City” is an easy 30-60 minute ride to major airports as well as New York City, Philadelphia, the Jersey Shore and multiple recreation areas.

Our program is a 5-5-5 academic focused, fellowship linked, community-oriented Family Medicine Residency.  We train future leaders in clinical care, community outreach, education and primary care practice-based research.

Please contact us if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you.
