Alliance Workgroups and Coalitions

HNB’s coalition-building effort seeks to emphasize systemic change to promote health and wellness for the residents of New Brunswick. Healthier New Brunswick’s coalition and workgroup activities focus on:

  • Strengthening community health partnerships;
  • Providing a forum for discussion of health needs and resources; and
  • Mobilizing community health partners to address identified health needs.

The Alliance currently has four active workgroups and partners closely with an independent coalition. These workgroups and coalitions include:

Active Living Workgroup Works with community partners to promote active living and physical activity, through education and community action to address obesity.

Recent achievements include:

Asthma and Lead Workgroup Supports community-based education on lead and asthma prevention.

Mental Health and Substance Abuse Workgroup

Engages community partners to address the lack of access to mental health services by focusing on education and prevention and developing resources to assist community service providers with information and knowledge to provide early intervention.

Recent achievements include:

Tobacco Workgroup When active, this workgroup supports efforts, which promote prevention including tobacco free campuses and communities; develop policies; and provide treatment.

Partnership with New Brunswick Domestic Violence Awareness CoalitionThe Alliance supports this coalition which addresses the needs of and provides assistance to domestic violence victims. Click Here to learn more about this Coalition.
