Research

Improving our understanding of kidney disorders is an important part of our mission. We participate in regional and national collaborative clinical studies as well as division initiated clinical studies to continuously improve the quality of care for our patients. Areas of research projects have included hypertension, chronic kidney disease, nephrotic syndrome and anemia in patients with renal failure. Some of the studies are done through the excellent Pediatric Clinical Research Center, located in the Child Health Institute. To help better understand the basic mechanism of the kidney and how it relates to renal disease, we have done basic science research, predominantly involving mechanisms of nephrotic syndrome and understanding a cell in the kidney, the podycyte.

We have also mentored students and residents research projects.
